The marathon that was not meant to be. It was more than a little disappointing to arrive in NYC after being told that in lieu of Sandy the marathon was to continue until I actually arrive in NYC and they cancelled the race, a race I had tried to get into for the past 3 years and had trained countless hours and miles for...but alas no race. Thankfully it was NYC and that meant we at least had a great weekend with Joel and Michelle. It was great to hang out, go out for some great food and play games. So excited for their wedding next summer.
here are some great views from the park at the top of the hill by their place
we spent Saturday out exploring the city
including walking over the Brooklyn Bridge
Michelle had found tickets for us for this really cool exhibit they were doing in Columbus Circle around the Columbus statue
They built scaffolding up and an actual room around the statue
it was the artist's idea of America in the room, so classic books
Warhol
and wallpaper covered in Michael Jackson, McDonalds, Elvis, hot dogs...
pretty great views from the top
this was the only signs of Sandy we really saw while visiting...no gas anywhere and LONG LONG lines for all gas stations
since I wasn't running we switched our flights to Sunday to head home but had a great morning out at the Brooklyn Botanic gardens before we had to leave
we took spot the dog with us to send pics to...
this little guy
even with Roxie
