Well...we have a child that HATES to be swaddled. He is two weeks old and DONE with being swaddled.
If you look closely in this picture you will see in the upper right hand corner it looks like his shoulder sticking out...that would instead be his hand that he worked the last hour to free and get to the top of his swaddle.
Although this video is hard to see...you can hear the hard grunting and groaning that goes into working out of the swaddle...thus keeping him awake for that much longer. You would then in turn think if we swaddled him with his little hands up he would be happy...nope they must be FREE from the swaddle.
It does not even have to be an official swaddle...it can simply be wrapping a blanket around him tightly while in the swing...the above picture is the final grunt that freed his little hand and the satisfaction of it shooting out of the blanket into the air.
Then the see mom I got it free...look at me...Then sleep...he just loves that little hand by his face!

We figured out in week one to always swaddle Garrison with his right arm out. He just likes it better that way. His Grammy pointed out that his right arm was the one that was always up in his ultrasound pics too.
