Puerto Vallarta!!

We had our first ever NO KID/ADULT ONLY trip out of Colorado with some of the supper club crew and it was AMAZING! We headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with the Cornells, Fudges and Hellands.

the little dining area and kitchen, which we again...never used since we all hung out at the pool or did dinner together

having never done an all-inclusive before we weren't sure about the food, but the website had said it was good food because it is a health and wellness resort and it was RIGHT, the food was AMAZING as you will see from many pictures of food to come in the blog

We went up to Fort Collins to watch the New Belgium USGP cyclocross race one dreary afternoon.

Cohen thought it was fun to get all bundled up to go watch and had fun cheering with Sam. It was a great race because the weather made it really muddy.

We enjoyed an amazing fall day up in Estes Park to celebrate my birthday with my parents and Cohen. We went into Rocky Mountain National Park to check out the colors and look for some elk. We lucked out that the Aspens were really starting to change so it was beautiful.

I had a fun night out with my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday as well. We met for some food/drinks at one of our favorite places in the town center and then enjoyed some yummy cakes!

We had bought tickets to a rockies game for Isaac's 2nd birthday but the actual game day got rained out so we postponed and got tickets to this game instead. The boys had lots of fun and it was a gorgeous night for a game. We made it through much more of the game than we thought we would. Cohen loved every time someone was up to bat and they played their music...he would dance along.

Cohen loves soccer. A lot comes from lots of soccer viewing with dad and a lot comes from his coach at his school. He is coachkyle (all one word to Cohen). Apparently when Kyle comes to Cohen's classroom he hops out of his chair and takes off to go play soccer.

Cohen saw the big boys at the park playing soccer and realized they all had high socks (really to go over shin guards but we didn't tell him that part) so he came home and decided he needed soccer socks. We were unable to find any actual soccer socks at the store but due to him being such a little guy the normal kid socks hiked up to his knees seem to do the trick. You must also wear shorts when wearing soccer socks. He was VERY excited!

Cohen went for his first trip to the dentist just after turning 2. Our neighborhood has a fancy kid's dentist that has a waiting room full of toys and games and play areas.

He loved the video game, eventhough he had no idea what he was doing.

after they gave him a sucker and a coin for their vending machine of toys out front, he was excited that he got a "token" because tokens are GREAT (you use them for the train at the zoo which makes them amazing)

Labor Day...final day

Cohen woke up at the crack of dawn again on the 4th day of our trip and this morning I brought my camera for some early morning shots.

Each group trip we do we try to get the boys matching shirts or something to take pics...here are our attempts...it is getting much more difficult now that they are older!

before we left we headed to the bus stop so we could ride a "city bus OHHHH city busy" up the hill to go for one last hike

Cohen had ridden the bus a few weeks before with grandma and grandpa Troge and talked about riding the city bus every time he saw one back down in Denver...needless to say it was quite exciting!

At first it was just Brittni and me with all of the kids so we stuck 2 to a swing and kept them captive for a while. They thought it was so funny.

While the first day was great the BEST part of the day for Cohen was the fun lunch we went to with Sparrow where he got to ride on a bunch of tractors...he was in HEAVEN!

We headed to Crested Butte, CO for Labor Day. Jesse and Sparrow had been working on getting a group trip together for quite a while so it was fun to finally make it up there. We drove up the night before so it was nice to explore in the morning...

Then the first of our friends arrived! Cohen was happy to see Griffin...

and VERY happy to see Grace so he tackled her giving hugs.

Then he and Sam showed off their new wheelbarrow move

which he then tried on Griffin

and then daddy...with very little success

We then went for a fun campfire night, but to get there we had to cross this "stream". I am pretty sure Sam would not have crossed if he could have seen these pics a head of time.

Corn and Tractors

You know you grew up in a small town when a huge event in the town is the annual corn roast parade which consists of local businesses, political groups, and organizations create little floats for their group.

In the past the parade used to have a lot of tractors in it so we took Cohen thinking he'd be able to see the tractors but there was actually just one in the whole parade this year!

Weekend in the Land o Love

We went up to Loveland to celbrate Cohen's birthday...here he is at the train station for the little train I used to ride as a kid. It is in the park by my highschool and run by the Lyons club.

We had a fun supper club night at Wash Park and all of a sudden we look up from the picnic table and Cohen and Isaac go flying by on a power wheels with some random kid from the park!

Book Club 5 year anniversary

The book club I joined just after moving here from LA had a getaway to celebrate 5 years together. In 5 years we have read 43 books, had some great food, made some great friends and most of all had some amazing discussions.

My friend Brooke and I organized the weekend and had a sign made for the group. We have called the group the Book Club Boozers since I started a blog for us 3 years ago. It goes with the fact that the club is half wine half book club...and was just funny.

We got together at one of our member's father in law's house in the mountains...he is a hunter and his house is FULL of stuffed animals. This is one corner of one room!

Brooke and I made a quiz for the gals about things that have happened in the group during the 5 years.

We made goodie bags for everyone including tote bags with all of the books we've read, this book belongs to stickers, future book club book and other fun little goodies.

While we know it is going to be a big change from Meri and all of the one on one/two on one time he had with her we are excited to see what school has to offer.

TWO YEARS OLD!!!

We had a fun day hanging out with our almost 2 year old...

pretty proud of the train track we built I took a picture since I knew it would not last long

then we hit the pool for Cohen's favorite thing of the summer..."pool time OH POOL TIME!!" He counts on the edge of the pool before going in

he still doesn't get the concept of holding his head above the water but does paddle over to where we are

I had to buy them because they say HERO on the side which is what we have always called him...

2 year appointment

Cohen had his 2 year appointment just shy of 2 years and we went out for some frozen yogurt after the visit.

He came in at a whopping 23lbs 7oz

Cohen's Meri

The family we shared our nanny with put their son in school at the beginning of summer so we had to find something different for Cohen. Needless to say we were very sad for Cohen's time with "his Meri" to come to an end. She gave us a disc of pics from some of their times together over the almost 2 years they were together so here are a few of my favs...in no age/date order...

While it is VERY sad that time with Meri is over it is very exciting to start a new phase and see what school has to offer our little man. We know it won't be anything the same, but will be good for its own reasons.

San Antonio

I had a convention in San Antonio for work so we decided to make use of a free flight I had and Cohen's last time being able to fly for free and have them come down for the weekend.

Their flight got delayed in Denver so their already late flight was even later getting in and they were both SO tired when they got to the hotel.

The next day we got up early and headed to Sea World

A lot of the resort is Sesame Street themed so it was fun for Cohen to see these guys all over

we got him changed into his swim clothes and let him play at the waterpark

he loved splashing especially since it was so hot out! (102 degrees!!)

then we rode the carousel

he would get so excited and wave at Sam every time around...he didn't understand that there was no train though because when he rides at the zoo he then gets off and goes to ride the train

we got dressed again and watched a little show...Cohen was a little skeptical

if we were hot these poor folks must have been dying dancing around in these!

we then went to a Sesame Street show

we only did a little over a half day so we could head back to the hotel and let Cohen take a nap so we could enjoy the night as well

we did a boat tour all through the Riverwalk area

sometimes boat rides are so long you need a bit of a snack

but then you get gelato after and that is GREAT

it is so funny to get to sleep in the same bed as mom and dad

good thing we completely wore him out during the day!

day 2 we headed back to Sea World for the morning

he loved watching the dolphins up close

they were jumping and playing all over the tank

then we went into the aquarium

which he also loved...those tanks are mesmorizing

back to the carousel

and the fancy show Azul where they had all kinds of divers

Cohen now makes some little guys in his bath tub dive like the divers at the show

then a little more fun in the water to cool down before getting back in the car

which worked well beause he was sound asleep by the time we got to the rental car return

but woke up enough to take off

then was sound asleep the whole way home...it is tough those days in the hot hot sun!

Our neighbor across the way is a photographer and also a grandma and her little grandson loves playing with Cohen so she snapped some cute shots this summer that I just found again so I figured I would post them now...

here is Cohen with her grandson Nolan (they are almost a year apart but you'd never know based on size!)

After we returned from Crested Butte we had more fun days with grandma and grandpa!

the awesome park across the street from our house

Cohen starting early on some climbing

and you can't beat digging in the sandbox...

especially with help from grandma AND

grandpa!

some fun on the slides too

then a fun day out with only grandma and grandpa at the museum of nature and science

they have some great kid areas

and lots of interactive toys

we also did an early birthday celebration

complete with singing and candles

which he enjoyed blowing out

and gave high fives

then wanted to do it again so he got to do it with grandma and grandpa Russell

he tried the cupcake

but as you can see was not a huge fan "no like it...no like it"

so we moved on to some presents...a little badger fan in the making...uncle Joel would be proud!

we went on a few "cat hunts" where we look for the neighborhood cats

it is always great when we see them

and sometimes we get LUCKY and they find us!

and we squeezed in his 2 year pictures with both sets of grandparents and his Meri (our nanny)

Crested Butte

After the race we got to spend the night and the next day in Crested Butte

Cohen got to spend some time with grandma and grandpa while I finished my race and then when Sam and I went to the wine festival going on after the race

he loved hopping up on the heater to look out the window

he went on his first "city bus" TWO TIMES

we went for a hike that was more of a walk which was perfect for Cohen and for my sore legs!

On the way home we stopped on Cottonwood Pass for a picnic

Sam and Cohen found some snow which is very funny in July!
