The Carlman's Visit

Our friends Joel and Allison left a year and a half ago for a new adventure in South Africa. They have both been going to grad school down there during this time. They were back stateside for a visit and we were so happy to see them. When they head back they'll be working for Kiva in Kenya which means a whole new adventure!

I didn't quite catch Brittni before she started to cut her yummy cookie...but you get the idea.

Obviously the biggest change for Joel and Allison with our group is the addition of some little ones. Griffin LOVED Allison's long hair, he was cracking up.
Bri and Joel with their already TWO month old Isaac!

Bolder Boulder

Brooke and I (along with the baby) walked the 31st Bolder Boulder 10k on Memorial Day. We lucked out because the weather was perfect!! It was cloudy and cool but didn't rain during the race (like it did the entire time last year when I ran with Clare).
There are many reasons to run/walk this race...but the main one is the craziness that is Boulder!!
The first of 3 sets of belly dancers
55000 people walk/jog/run this race
Elvis...there is music all along the course
A view of the foothills another view of the large crowd
almost at the finish! The finish goes through the stadium where everyone hangs out when they're done.
Part of the ceremony (one from each branch of the military come in as well as one large American Flag...while the patriotic music blares) Notice the clouds moving in...

The guy who landed with the big US flag was Brooke's tandem partner from when we went skydiving for her 30th!

And as soon as the elite runners came in and they did the ceremony the skies opened up and it poured! Brooke and I were SOAKING wet by the time we made it back to the bus.

Bachelorette

It is that time again...the Bachelor ended with the most dramatic ending ever...and now we're on to the Bachelorette. Monday night was the first night of what has to be the most ridiculous show on the air...none the less I will watch every episode!!
The Bachelorette this season in sticking with the theme of ABC and now only choosing cast offs from seasons past is Jillian...the 3rd runner up last season.

This is Jillian...who we think looks a LOT like...
Amy Grant
Now Jillian has had some help with her hair/wardrobe this season so things may be a little different. She was quite funny and entertaining on the last season so I am sure this will be good.
My favorite recap writer is back at it for this season, she makes me laugh so hard because she is always so right on! Check out the recap here.

Here's to hoping Jillian finds her man...or at least a LOT of drama along the way!!

28 Weeks- 3rd Trimester!!!

Well I am officially into the 3rd trimester which means it is getting closer!!
Fun facts and other info:
1. The baby loves watermelon...at least I think so since he goes nuts just about every time I eat it.
2. We took our birthing class this past weekend...Sam is now a bit overwhelmed!
3. The baby seems to like to be awake when I am trying to sleep, but sleeps for most of the rest of the day...as long as this does not continue once he is born it is ok.
4. I am HOT all of the time now! Sam can be completely covered in down blankets and sleeping away and I don't even have a sheet on and feel like it is 120 degrees.
5. Restless leg syndrome is common at this stage of the pregnancy...and I sure get it a lot...especially when trying to sleep.
That's it for updates for now, I'll try to include more as we get closer to this little guy joining us!

27 Weeks

Another week...another belly shot

Our next door neighbor (who is currently living in Malawi) sent me this poem which I think is so sweet:

Eshururu
My Child, My Light, My Jewel
Eshuru ruru mamush eshuru ruru mamush eshuru ruru, Sibelam azye, sitetam azye, sitetam azye, Edegligne enji aidekkimim gelaye, Lije yayine birhan gete mestawte, Lela minim yelegne ante neh hiwote, Angoragralehu tetwatna matta, Eshururu lije fikire yenealegnta.

Eshuru ruru baby boy eshuru ruru baby boy eshuru ruru, I carry you when I'm drinking, I carry you when I'm eating, I carry you when I'm eating, My body will never get tired as long as you're growing, My child, my light, my jewel, my mirror, You are my only life, I want nothing else, I croon every morning and every night. singing eshururu for my beloved.

Mother's Day

We went up to Loveland to celebrate Mother's Day in the best way possible...with some scrapbooking! :) Lin was home visiting from Texas so we were actually all together to have a Mother's Day dinner at home.
I also received some cute mother to be mother's day cards...can't believe this time next year I will have a little one!!

David is getting OLD!!

My uncle David turned 45 at the end of April...as per family tradition David had to receive some special gifts! (seeing as he is often the giver of such special gifts)
the first one is this lovely coconut head we found in Mexico for him...it was the only bald one so we found it quite fitting
a few homies for him
some Paris Hilton for men cologne
and from baby t some oh david, no david baby books
and finally a stockpile of teen vogues (he secretly loves them!)
It is quite amazing that I do not have one single pic of his real gifts...but these were much more entertaining!

Mexico- The end...

TULUM
Our last day in Mexico we did a tour of the Mayan ruins at Tulum. We had heard this was one of the prettiest settings being right on the cliff over the ocean and it was very cool to see!

Sam was so hot! He found the one little spot of shade and stayed there!

XEL HA
In the afternoon we headed to Xel Ha to do some tubing and snorkeling and eating!
Arlyss and I tubed down the river as mom, dad, Eric and Sam snorkeled down. It was a good thing we had them in the water with flippers because when we hit the large area there is no way we could have battled the current!
mom underwaterSAM!
Sam and his dad following a sting ray
this fish looks like it has blue lipstick on!This fish was so bright blue...the picture does not truly show it.dad relaxing
The dolphins were sleeping when we were leaving...next time I'll swim with you guys!!

the red flag that flew the entire time telling you not to go in the water...the little dots to the right of it are Sam and his dad

Arlyss on the beach

SHADOWS

SCARY GEKO

based on the look on Sam's face...you'd have an idea of how big this geko must be!
